Bungie comes to the aid of broken hearted gamer
—Update—
Bungie came through with one of their fabled Halo 3 goody bags and, apparently, Microsoft is scrambling to cover themselves on this one and compensate Nathaniel (the owner of the scrubbed console) for his trouble. You can also read a rather nice personal statement from Nathaniel thanking both Bungie and his friends (online and off) for their overwhelming support and sympathy. All’s well that ends well they say. Seems that this tragedy might just have a happy ending after all…

—End Update—
Pretty much everyone felt sorry for this poor bugger who got his Xbox 360 console that had been personally signed by such luminaries as the Rooster Teeth Productions staff and members of Bungie stripped down to the original white by some overzealous 360 tech when he sent it in for red ring repairs (I’m thinking that Monk or Danny Tanner just might be temping at Microsoft). But as the community mourned the passing of such a rare artifact Bungie was already formulating a move that would rectify this gross desecration.
According to community director Brian Jarrard, “Something is already ‘afoot’ within Bungie to help our community member in need,” — I personally can’t wait to see what sort of awesomeness Bungie is going to bring to the table for this lucky guy. Either they’ll just ship him a Warthog from Weta or produce what might just be the very apex of 360 perfection… I’m pretty sure the company that created Halo is capable of more than a Pro system with some high profile signatures on the case.
