EA’s Battlefield Heroes Trailer
EA’s upcoming foray into the world of free gaming Battlefield Heroes drew a lot of attention when it was first announced. It was pretty surprising to see a company with EA’s particular reputation for milking as much money out of their products as humanly possible offer what looks to be a pretty nice shooter for free. The art style is a blatant rip off of Team Fortress 2 and the graphics in the trailer look a ever so slightly dated — but we all love TF2, they have nearly a year to polish the game and if they manage to transfer the comedy shown in the trailer into the actual game then they might just have a winner on their hands.
It will be extremely interesting to see where this recent trend of free PC gaming leads the industry in the next few years. Either it will prove to be a mistake or we’ll all be playing more games for free and publishers will be making their profit on microtransactions from gamers who want their level 30 British Paratrooper decked out in the latest $5 Camo.
